Man found stabbed in Fort Lauderdale Publix parking lot: Police

A man was hospitalized and is fighting for his life after he was found stabbed in the parking lot of a Publix in Fort Lauderdale Wednesday night. NBC6’s Yvette Lewis reports.

A man was hospitalized and is fighting for his life after he was found stabbed in the parking lot of a Publix in Fort Lauderdale Wednesday night.

Officers were called to the parking lot of a Publix on Cordova Road at around 8:11 p.m., according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, where they found the injured man.

The victim was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. His identity hasn't been released.

A witness said he was sitting outside the supermarket area with the victim, who he said is named Albert, having a drink. At some point, the suspect approached them.

“They were talking for a moment. And then I don’t know exactly how they got into it, their personalities clashed. And he told dude ‘I’ll smack you in your face’ and dude whipped out a knife and he hit him about five times," the witness said.

The scene remained active for hours. Yellow tape covered part of the supermarket while police continued their investigation.

Police haven't released information on a suspect or a possible motive for the stabbing.
