Man Killed in Shooting in Lauderhill: Police

Police are investigating after a man was shot to death in Lauderhill early Monday.

Officers found 23-year-old Joshua Stephen lying on the ground in front of a home in the 2900 block of Northwest 55th Avenue around 1 a.m., Lauderhill Police officials said.

Stephen was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, police said.

Stephen was visiting family at the apartment complex and had stepped outside when he was shot. Neighbors said they heard at least five gunshots.

Police haven't given a possible motive for the shooting or given any information about a possible suspect or suspects.

"The family is very distraught, it's a large family and they're confident that someone may have captured something on a cell phone or heard a conversation or witnessed something and haven't been brave enough to step forward," Lauderhill Police Lt. Greg Solowsky said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
