Victim's Son Begs For Help Catching Bus Stop Murderer

Police believe Elites Morin had no money on his person to give a would-be robber

The son of a man found murdered near a Miami bus stop is begging for information that might help  catch the person who shot his father.

"The best part of my life is my dad," said 22-year-old Larisner Morin of his father Elites, whom he described as a "really good worker" who volunteered for Miami Police with Citizens on Patrol.

"He loved me. He loved my little sister...Please help me."

Elites Morin, 49, was on his way to catch a bus to his job at Miami International Airport around 5:30 a.m. when, Miami police suspect, a robber approached and asked for money.

It is not believed Morin carried any cash beyond his bus fare. He died from multiple gunshot wounds, just steps from the bust stop near Northeast 78th Street and 2nd Avenue.

Larisner Morin said his dad's car had recently broken down so he had begun taking the bus, telling Larisner and his 11-year-old sister it would be good for his health to walk to the bus stop.

Witnesses told police a young black man in a grey sweatshirt ran from the scene of the murder.

"This young man...lost his father," said Detective Confessor Gonzalez. "A hard-working man who did nothing but come to this country to make a living for himself and his family, who got up every morning at 4:00...to walk and catch the bus.

"I ask anyone out there who has a heart...that has any information, please call us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Miami Police Department's Homicide Unit at 305-603-6350 or Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
