A frantic man who ran through a West Park neighborhood and climbed onto a roof was found dead after taking a kayak into a lake early Friday, officials said.
The bizarre incident happened around 6:30 a.m. in the 4300 block of Southwest 33rd Street, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.
Officials said a neighbor called 911 after spotting the man possibly trying to break into a home. The man seemed agitated and claimed someone was chasing him as he ran to a second home.
The man climbed onto the roof of the home then jumped off and took a kayak into the lake behind the home. At one point, the kayak flipped over and the man went underwater.
A BSO marine unit responded and found the man's body in the water about an hour later, officials said. He hasn't been identified.
It's possible the man was under the influence of a drug, officials said.
The man's remains were taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
