A DUI investigation was underway in Miami Beach after a suspected drunk driver drove a car into the South Pointe Park inlet on Easter Sunday.
Andres Asion, who lives by the boardwalk, said he heard a car speeding in the area around 7 a.m. and then a crash.

Surveillance video obtained by Asion showed the Toyota Corolla driving on the boardwalk shortly before it ended up in the water.
"I realized the car landed in the water, so I called 911 right away and let them know where the car was," Asion said. "And, I was racing down here to see if anyone else was hurt, to jump in and save them.”

Asion said by the time he arrived, the man was already swimming and told him no one else was in the car. He said he could also tell the driver was under the influence.
"It was noticeable he was not all there. He was drunk, is my thought process," Asion said. "Thank God he made it out alive and that he didn’t kill somebody because there are a lot of people that run and walk their dogs through here every single morning."
Another witness saw the car driving very fast just a few feet away from people enjoying their Sunday morning by the water.

"That was the craziest thing that I have ever seen," James Terry said. "Unbelievable nobody got hurt or killed, and I know a lot of people that do walking and ride bikes here at that time of the morning. I don’t know how he got away with that.”
Video from Only in Dade showed officers at the scene and the suspected driver soaking wet and appearing to take a sobriety test before he was taken into police custody.
Yandeivy Chavez Dominguez, 22, was later charged with driving under the influence. The driver smelled of alcohol following the crash, an arrest report stated.
His bond was reportedly set at $1,000.
No injuries were reported, according to police. Video and photos showed the car later being taken out of the water.
"Maybe it’s an Easter miracle," Asion said.
