A man has been arrested in the murder of a woman at a Hialeah motel, police said Monday.
Ronald Adonis Lopezandrade, 26, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the killing of 30-year-old Yaimi Guevara Machado, Hialeah Police said.
Lopezandrade was being held without bond Monday, jail records showed. It's unknown if he's hired an attorney.
According to police and an arrest report, Machado was at the Chesapeake Motel at 935 W. Okeechobee Road with a friend early Sunday when she became accidentally locked out of her room while not fully dressed.
Lopezandrade had arrived at the lobby of the motel around 4:30 a.m. and bought four beers and cigarettes, the report said. He harassed a cleaning lady and the clerk and asked the clerk if there were any prostitutes, the report said.
Lopezandrade then came across Machado, who was dressed only in a bra and jeans, and let her have his shirt. But when Machado refused Lopezandrade's advances, he became enraged and they began to struggle, the report said.
Lopezandrade punched Machado in the face multiple times and covered her mouth with his hand, the report said. He tried to rape her noticed she wasn't moving and her face was covered in blood so he fled the scene, the report said.

Machado's body was found in a grassy area on the motel property completely naked. The official cause of death is still pending but it was likely asphyxiation and/or blunt trauma, police said.
"By all accounts, Ms. Machado was an innocent victim of a terrible crime. She was a hard working young woman who happened to be at the motel with a friend, who had temporarily left and the victim was accidentally locked out of her room, while not fully dressed," Hialeah Police said in a statement. "It was during this unfortunate precarious situation, that the subject took advantage of her."
Police said Lopezandrade was living in an apartment behind the motel and claims to be an undocumented immigrant from Honduras who has been in the U.S. for less than a year.
