Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Miami Strip Club Security Guard

A man has been arrested in a shooting outside a Miami strip club that left a security guard dead and another hospitalized last month.

Anthony Rodriguez, 25, was arrested Wednesday on charges including second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder in the Jan. 17 shooting outside of the Booby Trap on Northwest South River Drive, according to police.

Police said the incident started when Rodriguez was involved in a fight inside the club. Security guards escorted those involved in the fight outside but a short time later a car drove up to the the club and someone opened fire and hit the two security guards, police said.

Killed in the shooting was 31-year-old security guard Jose D. Otero. The other victim was shot in the hand and hospitalized.

An arrest warrant said officers found an assault rifle matching the 26 bullet casings found at the crime scene at Rodriguez's girlfriend's apartment. They also found the same clothing they saw the shooter wearing on surveillance video, the report said.

Rodriguez was ordered held without bond, and attorney information wasn't available.
