A man has been arrested in a double stabbing that killed an elderly man in Miami, police said Thursday.
Armando Colon, 23, was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the stabbings of 86-year-old Rodolfo Pavon and 68-year-old Maria Carrillo, Miami Police said.
Colon was being held without bond Thursday. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.
Police said they found the bodies of Pavon and Carrillo Wednesday morning after responding to a report of a stabbing at an apartment at 1559 Northwest North River Drive.
Pavon was pronounced dead at the scene. Carrillo was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
"It's a big loss, you know, he used to help me with anything that I needed," said the Pavon's son, Alexander Rivero. "I was always there giving them their medications and looking out after them."
According to an arrest report, Colon knew the couple and had gone to their apartment after taking some drugs and asked for a glass of water.
Pavon told Colon to come in and serve himself, and he stayed for a few minutes while smoking a cigarette then left, the report said.
After he left, Colon went and purchased more drugs, believed to be cocaine, and went back to the home to ask for more water, the report said.

Colon knocked on the door but when he didn't get a response, he forced open the door using his shoulder.
Once he was inside the apartment, he attacked Pavon with a knife and stabbed Carrillo, who is bedridden, in the head, the report said.
Colon said he left the apartment and went home, the report said.
