Long Lines in South Florida for Air Jordans

People stood in lines for hours for a pair of Air Jordans

Food fight in Lake Worth ends in stabbing, arrest.

Michael Jordan's newest sneaker release caused long lines in South Florida stores selling the new product on Friday.

The $180 pair of Air Jordan XI Retro Concords was released at midnight.

Rashard Hopwood, who bought a pair for himself and one for his son, said he woke up early to buy the shoes.

"You gotta be here early or else they sell out quick. These things sell like hot cakes. Everybody wants one," Hopwood said.

Another Pembroke Lakes Mall visitor told NBC Miami that he waited in line since 9 a.m. Thursday to get a pair of the shoes.

"I've always wanted them since I was a little kid, and I never could afford them, so now that I have money, I'm going to get them. We'll do it again next year too, that's for sure," said Gilbert Saiz.

"You can probably see by my face that I didn't even go to sleep last night just for these shoes," said Arthur Jean-Louis, who had waited more than 24 hours.

Other hopeful buyers weren't as lucky. The shoppers said they were sprayed with mace by police and trampled and pushed by other shoppers.

Another man said that police repeatedly kicked them out of the line and that other customers cut into the line.

"We didn't even get to the doors. The doors were locked," said Giovanny Perez, who walked away empty-handed.

Jonathon Capellan took a different approach to the madness and decided to sell his shoes. He bought three different pairs at different stores to get around the two per-person limit and then sold a pair for $320.
