A Key West woman was arrested after hitting and biting her child's father, and then struggling violently with authorities who had been called because of the domestic dispute, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Marjorie Maradiaga, 24, was arrested on May 27, and faces charges including violating a domestic violence injunction, domestic battery, two counts of battery on law enforcement officers, resisting arrest with violence and child neglect. It wasn't immediately known if she had an attorney.
A detective arrived at the trailer at 9 p.m. on Monday and found her holding her 11-month-old child. She appeared to be impaired and was slurring her words, the sheriff's office said.

She refused to hand over her child to authorities, and they had to remove the infant, after which Maradiaga was detained, the sheriff's office said.
The child's father, who had a domestic violence injunction against her, was there, and he said she became violent and chased him down the street. She also hit him and bit his back, authorities said.
He showed authorities a bite mark, which was bleeding. He added that she also attack his brother.

"The child’s father said Maradiaga threatened to drown their daughter several months before and he said he fears for the child’s safety," the sheriff's office said in an email statement.

After being arrested, she violently struggled with deputies as they tried to put handcuffs on her, and then she continued inside the patrol car.
They had to restrain her feet and hands because she kicked the deputies in the car. At jail, she also fought with deputies and had to be placed in a restraint chair.
