As Doral Police investigated the situation, the school was placed on lockdown and parents received messages from their concerned children about what was going on.

Students told NBC6 they often do safety drills but this time it felt like they were in danger.

"I was going upstairs and out of nowhere they scream, 'Lock down! Lock down!' and me and my friends look at each other for two seconds and we start running to our class, and then we get into class and the teacher closed the door," said Luis, a student.

"I thought it was a drill because drills are like that, how it started but then it extended too much and then it was like, it is not a drill,” said Valeria.

During the situation, Ronald Reagan High administrators sent out a voice message to parents to assure them everything was OK.

M-DCPS said students were dismissed at their regular time and have not confirmed what type of threat was made.

The school district is also warning people that any hoax or prank threat can result in arrests.
