A hit-and-run crash led to a 17-car accident and a traffic nightmare Monday morning on the Palmetto Expressway.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes of State Road 826 near Northwest 122nd Street and sent several people to the hospital, Florida Highway Patrol officials said. They suffered non-life threatening injuries, officials said.
The crash had all northbound lanes of the Palmetto closed for several hours until the cars could be cleared.
Officials said some drivers followed the vehicle involved in the hit and run and called 911, but the FHP is still trying to sort out the details of the crash.
