A Miami-Dade bus driver is being hailed as a hero after her quick actions saved an ill passenger's life.
Laronda Marshall was driving Thursday in the area of NW 103rd Street and 7th Avenue when she noticed a passenger who was slumped over in his seat. She went to check on him and he didn't have a pulse.
After securing the bus, she asked other passengers to help her lay the man on the floor, and she performed CPR on him until the paramedics came.
If she hadn't jumped into to help, the man would have died, paramedics said.
But this wasn't the first time Marshall went above and beyond to help others.
In 2017, she stopped to comfort an injured man who was hit by a car. Just a month later, she spotted a girl wandering alone in the streets, so she took the child to safety inside her bus.
"It's just, you know, my heart," Marshall told NBC 6. "I'm here to help."
She also credited her past skills as a certified nursing assistant.
"We (bus drivers) wear many hats," she said. "We're counselors, we're doctors, we're teachers, even CPR, you gotta learn it, it helps."

The county praised Marshall as an exemplary employee.
"She places the wellbeing and safety of those she serves as top priority. We are extremely proud of Operator Marshall and are grateful for her professionalism, heroism and her willingness to serve others – even in challenging situations," said Alice N. Bravo, director of the Department of Transportation and Public Works.
