Flood advisory issued for parts of Miami-Dade as more storms hit South Florida

An earlier severe thunderstorm warning for Broward ended at 4 p.m.

After a round of severe weather early Wednesday morning in South Florida, more storms were moving into the area in the afternoon.

A flood advisory was issued for portions of Miami-Dade until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and includes Miami, Coral Gables, South Miami, Kendall, Pinecrest, Glenvar Heights, University Of Miami, Sunset, Palmetto Bay, Olympia Heights, Richmond Heights, The Crossings, The Falls, Howard and Three Lakes.

An earlier severe thunderstorm warning was issued for western Broward until it ended at 4 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Miami said.

Winds of up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail were possible, the NWS said.

The warning was issued for a storm that was moving west to east along Alligator Alley bringing lightning and downpours. Locations impacted include Pembroke Pines, Davie, Sunrise, and Weston.

Heavy rainfall disrupted the morning commute after a round of severe weather swept through the area.

A severe thunderstorm warning had been in effect until 6 a.m. for residents in Hialeah, Coral Gables, and Hollywood, but it has since been canceled.

The worst of the early storms were off shore by mid-morning and conditions were be warm, muggy and damp.
