Transportation Security Administration officers intercepted a gun at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Friday, officials announced.
The loaded 9-mm Smith and Wesson was discovered in the carry-on bag of Leon Wendell Dancy, a 51-year-old North Miami man, the Broward Sheriff's Office said. Dancy, who was later arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm, was at the Terminal 4 checkpoint for a Spirit Airlines flight headed to LaGuardia Airport, according to authorities.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said the gun was "securely encased" in a black zipper bag.

Dancy bonded out of jail Saturday morning, according to online jail records. It was not immediately known whether he has an attorney.
In a separate incident on Thursday, the TSA said a loaded Glock was found at Tampa International Airport.
Officials said they have intercepted 23 guns at FLL airport this year and more than 1,000 guns throughout airports nationwide.
“Please remember to thoroughly go through your bags before you arrive at the airport,” said Sari Koshetz, an official for the TSA. “We partner with law enforcement, so realize that jail might become the destination you didn't want to go to!”
