A group of men in Miami-Dade, Florida, is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
The State Attorney's office and Miami-Dade School Board Police said a female high school student was forced to be a sex slave for a week, during a time when she was reported missing by her family.
According to prosecutors, the victim got into a black Ford Taurus on December 4th instead of going back home. It is not known if she knew any of the people in the car. That's when authorities said the terrible sex acts began.
"Every time you think you have seen the worst of the worst, a case like this pops up," said State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. "It's nauseating. It's horrifying and unspeakable. How human beings could be so barbaric to each other is a mystery to me."
Police said 43-year-old Derrick Powell, Sr. is charged with sexual battery on the girl. Powell's own son, 18-year-old Derrick Powell, Jr., is also charged with assaulting the victim. The other suspects, Craig Hill, Mark Evans, Branden Sands, Jerome Grace and Edward Cornelius are also in custody.
School Board Police said the teen was driven to various locations in north Miami-Dade where the sex acts took place over the course of the week. They said she was drugged with cocaine, pills, marijuana and alcohol. The men forced her into prostitution and gave her a financial quota of more than $1,200.
"The victim was forced to have sex with up to eight men simultaneously on at least two occasions," said one of the affidavits.
