“When I took office, the average minimum salary throughout the state of Florida was just a shade under $40,000,” DeSantis said. “We now have the average minimum teacher salary over $48,000. That’s up from about $39,000 five years ago.”
The governor added that teachers who live in areas where there is a higher cost of living will also start with a higher salary.
DeSantis said the massive increase can only be used for teacher salary increases.
