Gas Leak in Hollywood Forces Residents to Evacuate

City crews rupture high-pressure gas line on Lee Street

Some residents in Hollywood were evacuated Wednesday morning after city crews struck and ruptured a high-pressure gas line.

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Lee Street.

Fire Rescue Chief Joel Medina said that though you couldn't see it and everything looks normal, the gas plume is in the air and if an ignition source lit it up, the whole block would blow up.

Hollywood Fire Rescue and police quickly arrived, knocking on doors and evacuating nearby residents from their homes.
