Fort Lauderdale Church Pastor Given More Sexual Battery Charges

Another pastor who knows Jeffery London cautioned against a rush to judgment

Jeffery London appeared in a Broward courtroom for the third time in two weeks Wednesday, as a third man has come forward accusing the Fort Lauderdale youth pastor of sexually abusing him for years.

And Broward Sheriff’s Office investigators say they believe more victims are out there.

“Sir, you’ve been charged with additional charges,” a judge told London, 48. He now faces a total of 15 counts of sexual battery or sexual assault, with the latest alleged victim accusing London of abusing him starting when he was eight years old.

“I’ll remind you still not to have any contact with the alleged victim,” the judge told London.

The police reports from the three alleged victims, now adult men, describe similar accounts dating back to 2000. Two of the accusers – one eight years old at the time, the other 11 – say London would play pornographic videos, then force them to have sex with him.

The boys all lived or stayed at the youth pastor’s house with their parent’s permission.

“I’m really shocked,” said Virgil Roberts, who lives right behind Bible Church of God in Fort Lauderdale, where London was a youth pastor for many years.

Roberts, a pastor at a different church, also happens to be related to London through marriage.

“I’ve always seen him do what he can to help people,” Roberts said.

He said this may be a case of vindictiveness against the youth pastor – and no one should rush to judgment.

“When your name go in the mud it’s hard to clean it out,” Roberts said. “And I think they should wait and do a thorough investigation and make sure it’s really true that these things has happened.”

Police urge anyone with information on this case to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
