Florida Man Arrested in Connection With Death of Wife

A southwest Florida man has been charged in the slaying of his wife after his childhood friend accepted a 25-year plea deal in the case.

Local media outlets report that Mark Sievers was arrested Friday. Lee County jail records show he was being held without bail on a second-degree murder charge.

Dr. Teresa Sievers was found dead in the couple's home in June of 2014. Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. and Jimmy Rodgers, both of Missouri, were charged. Witness statements in court documents allege that Mark Sievers hired Wright to kill his wife.

Wright, who grew up with Sievers, agreed to assist authorities as part of his deal.

In December, Sievers' attorney, Lee Hollander, said his client denied any involvement in his wife's slaying.
