Florida Adds 2,811 New COVID Cases, 74 More Virus-Related Deaths

State's positivity rate for new cases stayed below 5% in new Department of Health report

Florida added more than 2,800 new coronavirus cases and reported over 70 new virus-related deaths Saturday.

The 2,811 new COVID-19 cases brought Florida's total to 714,615, according to the daily report released by the state's Department of Health Saturday.

Deaths among Florida residents increased by 74 in Saturday's report, for a total of 14,628. Another 175 non-residents have died in the state to-date.

Many deaths reported by the state happened days or weeks earlier, as it takes time to confirm causes of death.

The positivity rate of new cases was 4.79%, and has been below 5% for the past nine days.

In South Florida, Miami-Dade had 171,879 cases, along with 3,329 COVID-related deaths.

In Broward County, there were 77,765 COVID-19 cases reported, along with 1,414 virus-related deaths.

Palm Beach County had 46,964 cases and 1,393 virus-related deaths Saturday, while Monroe County had 1,861 cases and 22 deaths.
