Families were displaced after firefighters battled a blaze at an apartment building in Lauderdale Lakes Tuesday.
The fire broke out at a ground-floor apartment in the 3400 block of Northwest 29th Street.

>“I’m in shock right now," said Falandie Cesaire, whose apartment was on fire. "All my stuff was in there, my kids’ clothes. I mean, I don’t have anything now.”
Footage showed firefighters hosing down at least one unit as thick black smoke poured out.

>“When they arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the first-floor apartment in the rear," said BSO Fire Rescue Batallion Chief Michael Kane. "They made an aggressive attack to fight the fire back. In about 20 minutes, the fire was out.”
The fire wrecked two apartments, but no people were hurt and firefighters saved a bunny rabbit named Pree.
Cesaire said no one was home at the time of the fire, but a neighbor who happened to walk by noticed the blaze.

She's grateful the fire didn't result in a tragedy.
"I’m grateful because my kids are safe now, everything else is material, I’m grateful for that," Cesaire said.
