Fire crews arrived to find a light haze and fire coming from the back of the facility, officials said.

"Firefighters arrived to find smoke and other indications of fire coming from one of the units, began the fire attack which proved to be difficult based on the layout and the particular section of the storage facility, as well as the amount of stuff contained within these storage units," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Danny Cardeso said.

Crews immediately began attacking the fire, which had spread to multiple storage units. Chopper footage of the scene showed at least a dozen units affected by the fire.

The flames came a little too close for nearby resident Sophia Henderson, who said she could see it from her garden.

"It was frightening because it could’ve jumped to my house, you know, the backyard," Henderson said. "I just saw smoke, billowing coming up from that area. I was just wondering what was happening because I know that there’s warehouses and so on, so I wondered what caught fire."

Fire crews battled the fire from multiple angles including the interior and the roof of the storage facility, officials said.

With over 30 fire rescue units on the scene, crews were eventually able to stop the spread of the fire. No injuries were reported.

One customer, Lorna Filsaime, arrived at the facility where she said she stores more than $20,000 wortth of catering equipment.

“I can’t get my equipments, it’s crazy, and I have deadlines," she said.

Some drivers in the area of Miami Gardens experienced traffic delays after lanes were blocked so that fire rescue could work to contain the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
