FEMA Opens Additional Disaster Resource Centers in Wake of Irma

Residents and small business owners in the Florida Keys are getting a chance to register for federal assistance in the wake of Hurricane Irma’s devastation in the area.

FEMA announced the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center located in Big Pine Key on Atlantis Drive. The center is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. every day until further notice.

Those who suffered damage from the Category 4 storm’s landfall can meet with relief officials from several federal and state agencies on how to get money back to rebuild.

It’s the third center open in South Florida, as the agency opened DRC’s in Boynton Beach at the Carolyn Sims Center and in Southwest Miami-Dade on the Kendall campus of Miami Dade College.

Those in need can also call the agency’s help line 800-621-3362 every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. All are encouraged to register online before visiting a center.
