Father, 11-Year-Old Daughter Identified as Victims of Fatal Mobile Home Fire in Broward

A Broward County man and his 11-year-old daughter were identified as the victims of an early morning fire at a mobile home Wednesday.

A Broward County man and his 11-year-old daughter were identified as the victims of an early morning fire at a mobile home Wednesday.

Armando Hernandez Valdez, 51, and Ana Hernandez Marrero, 11, were killed in the fire on Southwest 44th Terrace in Broadview Park near Plantation, Broward Sheriff's Office Officials said.

Fire Rescue workers responded to the mobile home around 3 a.m. after reports of a sparking air conditioning unit outside the home, officials said. The 911 caller said the mobile home was on fire and there were reports of people trapped inside who weren't responding to neighbors banging on the windows, officials said.

Firefighters immediately began searching for victims but after five minutes, the fire got worse and they were ordered out. The fire was knocked down after about 30 minutes and when they went back inside, the father and daughter were discovered in a back bedroom, officials said.

The cause of the fire in under investigation and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death for the victims.
