A man was rushed to the hospital after divers found him in a canal in Fort Lauderdale.

A man has died after divers found him in a canal in Fort Lauderdale Wednesday.

According to Fort Lauderdale Police, the incident happened at about 5 p.m. Wednesday in a canal near the 1800 block of NW 3rd Court.

Officials said 44-year-old David Boatswain went into the water and didn't come up, so the dive team responded.

After divers found him in the canal, they pulled him out and he went into cardiac arrest.

Fire responders gave the man CPR before he was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said the incident appears to be an accidental drowning and that no foul play was suspected.
