"This is really the model for other states to follow," DeSantis said.

Over the next few weeks, ICE will be training local law enforcement as part of the agreement.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Florida Highway Patrol were among the law enforcement in attendance at Wednesday's news conference.

"As the mission continues to develop at the national and state level, we here in Miami-Dade County will support in however fashion we need to ensure that we are obeying that law," Cordero-Stutz said.

For funding, DeSantis said there will be federal reimbursements, and the state has appropriated $250 million to supplement and reimburse municipal and county law enforcement.
