Retired NBA legend and current auxiliary deputy Shaquille O'Neal, who helped the Miami Heat win a championship, met with Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony.
"Deputy Shaq" and Tony met to discuss public safety, BSO wrote in a Facebook post.
The NBA hall-of-famer has a longtime connection with BSO and strong ties to the community.
O'Neal in November was on his way to hand out Thanksgiving meals with currently suspended Sheriff Scott Israel when they witnessed a car crash.
While BSO deputies handled the accident scene, O'Neal sprang into action and comforted the children who were involved in the accident.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in January removed Israel from the position and appointed Tony as interim sheriff.
