The officer wasn't injured.

A man was shot and killed by a police officer during an encounter in Boca Raton on Wednesday, authorities confirmed.

While police have revealed few details, a witness who said he saw the encounter said multiple gunshots were fired.

"I heard three gunshots. It was quick. Pop pop pop and I knew what I heard," said the witness, who didn't want to be identified. "The police was behind him with a Taser, giving him commands to stop, and the person was not abiding."

That’s when the witness said the officer Tased the man, but the Taser didn’t deter him and he kept going.

"He did not stop, did not fall on the ground, he tried to take out the Tasers," the witness said.

The witness said the officer continued giving commands walking around the man before Tasing him a second time.

"That’s when he got upset and started charging the cop," the witness said.

Eventually the witness said the two ended up in the middle of the street.

"And that’s when he lost it and charged the police and he dropped the Taser and pulled out the gun and three shots," the witness said. "I don’t feel like the cop actually wanted to shoot this guy because you can tell he tried multiple times saying 'stop, I’m gonna Tase you.' It’s something seen on TV not real life."

The scene of the shooting is near the Boca Raton Police Department, NBC affiliate WPTV reported.

"The investigation is ongoing. There is no threat to the public. Roads will remain closed until further notice," police said in a post on X.

Authorities did not immediately say what led to the shooting. Police didn't say if the person had a weapon.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is also at the scene and will investigate the incident, which is standard practice in police shootings.
