2 Men, Dogs Escape Garage Fire in Wilton Manors

Two men and their dogs escaped a house fire in Wilton Manors.

Two men and two dogs escaped a large fire early Tuesday at a Wilton Manors home.

Crews responded to the fire in the 2300 block of Northeast 16th Avenue just after 6 a.m.

Fire rescue crews report that the home's garage was completely engulfed in flames once they arrived.

The two men and the dogs made it out safely and no other injuries were reported.

John Walters, one of the residents, said they've lived there about a year and a half and were moving out in less than a week. He said the damage was mostly in the garage and the kitchen.

Walters was asked what was going through his mind when he realized the home was on fire.

"Just get the dogs and get out," he said. "It is what it is."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
