Two people were rushed to the hospital early Tuesday morning after a crash between a car and gas tanker shut down a major Miami-Dade roadway.
Crews arrived at the scene on U.S. 1 southbound at SW 17th Avenue just before 5 a.m., where a car could be seen in the middle of the intersection with its front end smashed in along with the gas tanker stopped before the intersection.
Miami Fire Rescue crews took a man and a woman to Ryder Trauma Center, but have not released any information on their condition.
Traffic southbound was being re-routed at SW 16th Avenue before the intersection was cleared shortly after 8 a.m.
