Child Uninjured in Miami Double Shooting

Two people shot but child unharmed when gunmen open fire

Authorities say a young child is lucky to be alive after two people were killed  when their car was targeted by gunmen in Miami Friday morning.

Around 11 a.m., three people who were behind a home at 510 NW 73rd Terrace were shot at, and two were struck many times.  The third person was a 1-year-old child, who was unharmed, authorities said.

Willie Albert Latson, 26, died shortly after arriving at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Unit. Devon Broughton, 19, died at the scene. The child was Broughton's son and was taken to family nearby.

Authorities don't have much information about the gunmen, and are urging the public to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305 471 TIPS (8477).
