Family members said Dontavis J. Ponder was home with his grandmother watching TV in a separate room when he suddenly fell out of the window.

"I guess he wanted to look out the window to see what was going on or whatnot, I don’t know, and I guess he pushed himself a little too far into the screen of the window and it probably popped out and that’s at the same time he fell out," said his aunt, Geleen Gonzalez.

The child was transported to Ryder Trauma and was in critical condition, fire officials said. According to his aunt, Ponder did not break any bones, but he is intubated because of a punctured lung and bruised liver.

Miami Police as seen inside the apartment investigating, but so far no word on whether there will be any charges.

Gonzalez said Ponder’s grandmother didn't hear the fall and had no idea what happened.

"She didn’t know what was going on until she heard the sirens of the rescue ambulance and the police," Gonzalez said.

Ponder is expected to be OK although he will stay in the hospital for a few days for observation.
