Central Florida Teacher Arrested for Allegedly Slamming Student to Ground During Fight

A teacher from Central Florida is out of jail after he was arrested for allegedly slamming a female student to the ground while attempting to break up a fight.

Jason Parks, a 44-year-old environmental science teacher at St. Cloud High School, was arrested after the fight Tuesday afternoon at the school according to NBC affiliate WESH-TV. He bonded out and has been assigned out of the school as an investigation continues.

According to police, the fight started when a male student in Parks’ class pulled a chair out from under a female student – who later waited to hit the male student back when Parks got involved. Video footage showed the teacher slamming the female student into a wall and later to the ground.

Officers say the student did not fight back but did not say if she was injured.

Parks was charged with child abuse. He has been a teacher in the Osceola County School District since 2015 and at the school since last November.
