The video shows the moments Eric Popper pulled out his gun and shot at the other driver several times while traveling southbound down the highway in what the Florida Highway Patrol called a road rage incident.

NBC 6 obtained the dashcam footage Friday from Popper's attorney, Robert Gershman, who confirmed the video is from the incident.

Both drivers opened fire on each other, and both cars were struck but neither driver was injured, FHP officials said at the time.

Popper and the other driver eventually pulled over and called 911.

"I was just shot at. My car was hit," Popper is heard telling in another dashcam video filmed at another angle. "I returned fire back at the individual."

But according to a police report, the other driver claimed he didn't have a gun and threw a water bottle at Popper's car. Popper's attorney claims Popper was defending himself.

"You hear a bang on Mr. Popper's car, akin to a gunshot, which precipitated the whole incident, so in this matter, the audio and video evidence we believe exonerates him," Gershman said.

Photos provided by law enforcement back in June showed both cars riddled with bullets.

Popper later turned himself in and then bonded out of jail. He was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting/throwing a deadly missile.
