Broward County School District: closed Thursday and Friday; all Wednesday evening classes, after-school activities, clubs and events are canceled.
Palm Beach County School District: Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday. All district events at any school or campus facility are canceled until Sunday.
Miami-Dade County School District: closed Thursday and Friday.
American Heritage School: The Plantation private school will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Archdiocese of Miami Catholic schools: All schools in Miami-Dade and Broward counties will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
Local
Barry University: The university is closing the main campus in Miami Shores and all other campuses in Florida and the Bahamas at noon Wednesday.
Broward College: Classes and normal business operations are canceled on all campuses beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday and not expected to resume until Monday.
Diocese of Palm Beach schools: All schools in Palm Beach County will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Florida Atlantic University: All campuses: All classes are canceled through Sunday, Oct. 9; any instructional time missed during these days will be made up later in the semester.
Florida International University: The Miami-based school is closed through Friday.
Keiser University: All classes canceled through Friday. Classes will resume Monday, October 10.
Lynn University: Classes are canceled and will remain closed through Friday.
Miami Dade College: All campuses will remain closed through Sunday, will resume normal operations Monday.
Miami International University of Art and Design: The university will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Nova Southeastern University: The Fort Lauderdale-based university is closed Thursday and Friday.
Nova Southeastern University's University School (private prep school) will reopen Monday
Pine Crest School: Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Palm Beach Day Academy: School is closed Thursday and Friday.
Palm Beach State College: All campuses will remain closed through Sunday.
St. Andrew's School: The Boca Raton school is closed Thursday and Friday.
Government/Facilities
Boca Raton: City facilities a will remain closed until Tuesday. There will be no sanitation services Wednesday through Sunday. Regularly scheduled pickups will resume Monday
Boynton Beach: City Hall, city facilities, parks and programs, including the beach and golf course, will be closed all day Thursday. Thursday trash pickup has been canceled. The city-run Schoolhouse Children's Museum & Learning Center will be closed Thursday.
Broward County bridges: All will be locked in the down position at 8 p.m., Wednesday. They will be open to vehicular traffic but not boat traffic.
Broward County Courts: Closed, reopening Monday.
Broward County government meetings: The county's Marine Advisory Committee, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Tourist Development Council have canceled meetings scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Broward County Transit: Regular bus and paratransit service throughout the county will be suspended at midnight Wednesday, through Thursday. Plans are to resume service Friday as soon as weather and road conditions allow.
Broward Health: The north Broward health system will be accepting trauma and emergency patients only; all elective and outpatient procedures have been canceled for Thursday and Friday.
CareerSource Broward Offices: All office locations are closed Thursday.
CareerSource Palm Beach Offices: All office locations, in West Palm Beach, Belle Glade and Boca Raton, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program office in West Palm Beach, will be closed through Friday.
Cleveland Clinic: The hospital system's offices across Broward and Palm Beach counties will be closed Thursday, except for the 24-hour emergency department located in Weston.
Coconut Creek: Garbage and recycling service will stop when winds reach a sustained 40 mph. If service is suspended, garbage and recycling will be collected on the next scheduled collection day. Thursday garbage will be collected Monday. Thursday's recycling will be collected Oct. 13.
Cooper City: No garbage pick-up Thursday.
Coral Springs: Parks are closed through Friday. The city's Artoberfest scheduled for Friday has also been canceled.
Dania Beach: All city-affiliated events have been canceled through Friday. No garbage pick-up Thursday.
Davie: No garbage pick-up Thursday.
Deerfield Beach: The city's underwater camera has been pulled out and viewing is suspended until the storm passes, due to possible heavy wave action.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport: Airport will close at 10:30 a.m., Thursday.
Florida state offices: All state offices have been closed Thursday and Friday in a number of coastal counties including Broward, Martin, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission: The commission has closed wildlife management areas.
Fort Lauderdale: City Hall is closed Thursday and Friday. Residential trash collection, bulk trash collection and recycling services will be suspended for Thursday and Friday. All parks and community centers closed Thursday and Friday. All after-school programs are canceled Thursday and Friday. Sun Trolley service has been suspended.
Hallandale Beach: City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Lauderdale Lakes: No garbage pick-up Thursday.
Lighthouse Point: No garbage pick-up Thursday.
Memorial Healthcare Systems: The south Broward hospital system has canceled all elective and outpatient procedures at its facilities. Emergency and trauma patients only.
Miramar: City Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday. No city bus service Thursday or Friday. Thursday garbage collection has been suspended. Resumption of services will be evaluated after the storm. The Latin Heritage Celebration scheduled for Saturday has been postponed until Oct. 15.
Nicklaus Children's Hospital: All elective procedures on the main campus will be cancelled on Thursday. The outpatient and urgent care centers in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties also will be closed Thursday.
Parkland: No garbage pick-up Thursday.
Pompano Beach: City offices will remain closed Thursday and Friday, to reopen Monday. Thursday garbage pick-up has been canceled.
Palm Beach County Courts: Jury duty Thursday is canceled. Those whose licenses were due to be suspended Thursday will have another business day to make payment. Foreclosure auctions scheduled for Thursday are canceled.
Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Facilities: All facilities, including boat ramps and beaches, will be re-opened when county officials deem it safe to do so.
Palm Tran: Palm Beach County bus service will be suspended after noon Thursday. Once roads are safe to travel, the Palm Tran service will resume.
Pembroke Park: No garbage pick-up Thursday.
Pembroke Pines: No garbage pick-up Thursday. The street-naming ceremony for Private Juan Restrepo, who was killed in action, has been postponed from Friday and will be rescheduled. The antiques show at the Southwest Focal Point Community Center scheduled for Saturday and Sunday has been canceled. And Bow Wow Ween has been rescheduled to Oct. 15.
Plantation: No garbage pick-up Thursday.
Port of Palm Beach: The Riviera Beach facility will be closed until further notice.
Sea Ranch Lakes: No garbage pick-up Thursday.
South Florida Water Management District: The district's Water Resources Advisory Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday has been canceled.
Tamarac: No garbage pick-up Thursday.
Tri-Rail: All trains are suspended Thursday and Friday.
Wellington Golf Classic: The event, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been rescheduled for Nov. 13.
Weston: City administration will remain closed through the week. Parks will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
West Palm Beach: City offices will remain closed Thursday, when a decision on whether to reopen Friday will be made.
Wilton Manors: No garbage pick-up Thursday.

Artists of Palm Beach County on the Park Gallery: The Lake Park art space will be closed through Monday and has postponed Friday's opening reception for the "Abstract" exhibit until Oct. 14.
ArtServe: The Fort Lauderdale gallery and performance space will be closed Thursday and Friday. Normal activity is expected to resume Monday.
Alzheimer's Community Care: Centers throughout Palm Beach County will be closed Thursday. Further updates are available by calling 800-394-1771.
Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge: The area in unincorporated Palm Beach County will be closed Thursday and remain closed until the hurricane threat is over.
Aventura Mall: The mall will be closed Thursday.
Bailey Hall: The Davie performing arts center has postponed Thursday's screening of the movie, "Donald Cried," and Saturday's performance of the Delray String Quartet. New dates have not been announced.
Boca Raton opening: A ribbon-cutting to open the Watergate Estates Park on Saturday has been postponed and will be rescheduled.
Boca Raton Museum Art School: Art classes are canceled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Friday's opening reception for the exhibit of paintings by Philip Glick has been rescheduled for 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 14 at 801 W. Palmetto Road.
Boynton Beach Mall: A holiday job fair scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until 4 p.m., Oct. 20.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County: All clubs throughout Palm Beach Countywill reopen Monday.
Broward Center for the Performing Arts: The Fort Lauderdale performing arts center has postponed Thursday's Henry Rollis spoken word tour and Friday's Taiko drum ensemble performance. All Thursday classes at the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center have been canceled.
Clematis by Night: Thursday's Clematis by Night has been canceled.
Everglades National Park: The park will remain closed until after the storm passes or projections of the storm's path warrant reopening. Dry Tortugas National Park is expected to be out of the path of the storm, and to remain open.
Festival Flea Market Mall: The mall will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Grassy Waters Everglades Preserve: The preserve will remain closed until normal West Palm Beach city operations resume.
Gulfstream Park West: The Hallandale Beach attraction has canceled horse-racing Wednesday through Friday.
House of Horror-Haunted Carnival: The Miami attraction will be closed Thursday and reopen Friday. Thursday night's concert with the Chainsmokers, Daya and Zara Larsson has been rescheduled until Nov. 4. Tickets to the original concert will be valid.
Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park: The Pompano Beach attraction will close Thursday until it is safe for both customers and employees to visit the property.
Jungle Island: The Miami zoological park will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Kravis Center for the Performing Arts: has canceled performances scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, "Goodnight Moon" and "The Runaway Bunny" and "Songs of Freedom."
Miami Children's Museum: The MacArthur Causeway facility will be closed on Thursdayand will reopen when conditions have become safe within the community.
Museum of Contemporary Art: The North Miami museum is closed Thursday. The opening reception of the exhibit, "SYZYGY," has been postponed until Oct. 13.
Norton Museum: West Palm Beach's Norton Museum of Art will be closed Thursday. Patrons are asked to check the museum website at www.norton.org for re-opening date and time.
Palm Beach Zoo: The zoo will be closed Thursday.
