Police confirmed the person who died was a construction worker.

Two of the injured were taken to Mercy Hospital in stable condition while two others were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in serious but stable condition.

At a news conference, officials said the incident did not disrupt or hurt any patients in the hospital.

NBC6 viewer sent a picture of the crane.

Officials also said they will be doing their best to remove the broken equipment and will need a small section of the hospital to be evacuated while the removal process continues.

An HCA spokesperson saidthat the construction project began in late 2022 to replace air handlers and that no clinical operations were impacted -- but, patients in labor and delivery were being moved to the postpartum area out of an abundance of caution.

The cause of the incident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
