Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that happened on the northbound lanes of I95 at Copans Road Friday afternoon around noon.
28-year-old Roseline Jean-Baptiste of North Miami Beach and her two toddlers were traveling north when she swerved to avoid a tire in the roadway and lost control, according to FHP Lt. Gene Hingson.
Both children -- one-year-old Jacob Mentor and three-year-old Saniece Mentor -- were in the back seat and secured only by regular seat belts when the vehicle rolled over.
Jacob was ejected from the vehicle and flew 18 feet over the I95 wall and onto the patio of a Jan and Bob Blount, who happened to be playing cards in the back yard.
"There's a major accident on 95, and a child just got thrown over a wall," Jan Blount told the 911 operator. "The child flew into my back yard."
Jacob was alert and crying as they were tending to him, and he was airlifted to Broward General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while the Jean-Baptiste and Saniece were transported to North Broward Medical Center.
