A young boy is recovering at the hospital after he fell from a tree and landed on a spiked fence in West Park Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the 10-year-old boy had climbed a tree in the area of 44th Avenue and 18th Street when he slipped off a branch that was about 18 feet off the ground.
The boy landed on a spiked fence but a good Samaritan was able to get him off the fence and apply pressure to his wounds, the BSO said.
He suffered four puncture wounds to his chest, officials said.
Broward Sheriff's paramedics arrived and rushed the boy to Memorial Regional/Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital as a trauma alert. He was alert and conscious.
Authorities said the good Samaritan's actions likely saved the boy's life.
