Body of Woman Missing Since 1990 Found in Fort Myers Pond

The body of a woman who has been missing for 25 years has been found inside a car at the bottom of a Florida pond.

The body of a woman who has been missing for 25 years has been found inside her red sports car at the bottom of a southwest Florida pond.

According to NBC affiliate WBBH, Rita Sue Zul was reported missing on January 15, 1990. She left the restaurant she worked at driving her boyfriend's red Datsun.

The News-Press of Fort Myers reports the car was found during a search for another woman who went missing in Fort Myers last week.

Scott Dunlap of Cape Coral says he was searching bodies of water for the missing woman's car. He spotted oil sheen, put a magnet on a fishing pole and cast. It latched onto something. A friend swam down and confirmed it was a car.

Dunlap is planning to create a team to search other waterways in Southwest Florida for more missing persons, in an effort to bring closure to other families.

Foul play is not suspected in Zul's death, but an investigation will be opened up to figure out how Zul ended up in the water.
