Body Found in West Park Alleyway Identified as Teen

16-year-old's death ruled a homicide

Police investigate after a man’s body was found in West Park. BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion comments.

The body found in a West Park alleyway earlier this week has been identified as a 16-year-old boy, authorities said Thursday.

Francisco Santiago was found in the 3800 block of Hallandale Beach Boulevard by a man who was walking his dog, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The BSO didn't give a cause of death but said the death has been ruled a homicide. Santiago's body has been transported to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

At his home Thursday night, Santiago's sister and mother fought back tears as they spoke about the teen's death.

"He's not just an animal, like those guys left him, thrown there," sister Crystal Rosario said. "Nobody deserves whatever they did to my brother."
