A Boca Raton man was arrested after he tried to steal a car, but ran away from the scene barefoot, leaving his shoes next to the car, authorities said.
Dominick Andrew Giordano, 32, was arrested Monday for attempted vehicle burglary when he tried to break into a 2004 Toyota Tundra, belonging to Curtis Brown, who was near his car during the incident. The car was parked at a parking lot, located at 9930 Glades Road, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office report.
When authorities found Giordano at a nearby DSW shoe store, he smelled like alcohol and may have urinated on himself, the report said.
Before he was found, Giordano had attempted to break into the car by pulling on the driver's side door handle, Brown told the sheriff's office.
Brown's wife had called authorities and said a drunk man wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans and no shoes was attempting to break into her husband's truck, the report said.
Brown yelled at Giordano as he started running southbound to a nearby DSW because he left his black "Croc style" shoes next to the car, the report said.
When authorities reached Giordano, he was leaving DSW wearing white socks and carrying a shopping bag with a pair of grey Sketchers sneakers in it, the report said.

Authorities asked Giordano to sit down. When he did, he said "Man, I thought that was my truck cause I used to have a truck," the report said.
Authorities said they noticed he smelled like alcohol and may have urinated on himself because there was a wet stream down his right pant leg.
Without being questioned, Giordano said, "Man, I thought that was my buddy's truck!"
He was arrested on charges of unarmed burglary and taken to jail. He was released Monday on a $3,000 bond.
