Authorities have made an arrest in the bizarre shooting death of a man in Fort Lauderdale over the weekend.
Dan Gerard Holmes, 41, is facing a premeditated murder charge in the Sunday night shooting of 45-year-old Johnny Ross in unincorporated Fort Lauderdale, the Broward Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Holmes, who was arrested by BSO SWAT, fugitive unit officers and homicide detectives, was being held without bond Tuesday, and it's unknown whether he has an attorney.
According to the BSO, deputies responding to a report of a traffic crash with injuries in the 2800 block of Northwest 4th Street found Ross on the ground next to his SUV with multiple gunshot injuries.
Detectives believe Ross was shot inside the 2006 Ford Expedition and drove himself to the area, where he struck a tree, the BSO said. Ross was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died.
Authorities haven't given a motive for the shooting but said they're still investigating the incident.
