Armed Robbery at North Miami Beach Strip Club Parking Lot Ends in Shooting in Aventura

Police set up perimeter near Aventura Mall.

An armed robbery at a North Miami Beach strip club ended in a shooting in Aventura early Wednesday, authorities said.

The robbery happened around 4 a.m. at Dean's Gold at 2355 Northeast 163rd Street when three armed thieves robbed a man as he was picking up his girlfriend at the club, North Miami Beach Police said.

"The victim was standing outside of Dean's Gold in the back waiting for his girlfriend to finish working, while he was in the back sitting outside his vehicle, a black male subject approached him, produced a firearm, cocked the firearm and demanded all his jewelry and his wallet," North Miami Beach Police spokesman Sgt. Jason Ochoa said.

The victim gave his valuables up, but he didn't let the robber off easy. He flagged security outside the strip club, called 911 and followed the Toyota Solara for about 30 blocks in his Lexus.

At one point, shots were fired near the Aventura Mall on Biscayne Boulevard at 191st Street and the driver of the Toyota lost control and crashed near a gas station.

"I heard a boom, that's it, and then I went out see a car crash outside,"  gas station clerk Joel Williams said.

Police set up a perimeter and at least one suspect was taken in to custody. Police said he was hiding in a trash can when he was found with the help of a K-9 officer.

The robbery victim wasn't injured.

Two suspects were still at large early Wednesday, police said. Police described them as black males in their early 20s with thin builds who were wearing all black at the time of the incident.

Anyone with Information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
