Miami Fire Rescue confirmed the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County was evacuated due to flooding on Sunday night.
Units evacuated the building during a production of The Lion King, fire rescue said.
Authorities said a call came in about major flooding, with water flowing downstairs.
Showgoers said the water upstaged the musical.
"It was like the Titanic, it was coming in, it was like an indoor fountain, splashing all over the carpets," Ellie Stern said.
"If you look out over the balcony, pretty much the water was coming down from the side and from the lights," Mimosa Nguyen said.
"Flash flooding in Downtown Miami tonight caused a drain line to leak during this evening's performance of the Lion King. Flooding in the Ziff Ballet Opera House lobby led to the stoppage of the second act. Our engineering team has determined that the leak is controlled and it is now being repaired," Scott Shiller, the Arsht Center's executive vice president, said in an email statement.
People who were at the show can contact the Arsht Center box office from 10 a.m. at 786-468-2337,or the point of ticket purchase, to exchange their tickets for performances through June 10.
