The National Hurricane Center says that a tropical depression could form in the Atlantic by the end of the week.
According to the NHC, the disturbance, which is located almost 3,000 miles east of South Florida and several hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, is in an unfavorable environment and development is not anticipated in the next couple of days.
The system is fighting dry air in the short term and only has a 10% chance of tropical development over the next 48 hours.
As the low heads west, it does move into a more favorable environment.

In fact, we are forecasting a 50% chance of tropical development by the middle or later part of the week.
Models are consistent and we could see a depression near the Leeward Islands by the end of the week.

It appears as though a series of fronts, bringing dry air and wind shear, will protect the U.S. from significant impacts.
