Police arrested a student who brought a BB gun to a Coconut Creek school, officials said.
Coconut Creek Police officials said the male student brought the gun to Monarch High School on Tuesday and showed it to a friend.
The friend told a teacher about it on Wednesday and the teacher alerted authorities.
The student was arrested for having a weapon on school grounds. His name and age weren't released.
"Our staff, School Resource Officer and Coconut Creek Police Department responded immediately and resolved the situation. I want to assure you that all students are safe and this incident did not involve any threats toward our school," Monarch Principal James Neer said in a call to parents. "The safety and security of our students and staff are always our highest priorities."
