A 4-month-old Miami-Dade boy was found safe Friday after a missing child alert was issued.
Knowledge Croskey was found safe in Miami-Dade in the area of Northwest 52nd Street and 21st Avenue, hours after the alert was issued.
Croskey was believed to be in the company of 41-year-old Heather Croskey, according to the alert from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. It's unknown if Croskey was found with the boy.
Family members said Heather Croskey is the boy's mother but it was unknown if she has legal custody of the boy.
According to an arrest report, Croskey was arrested last March on child abuse and battery charges. Two of her children told police she beat them with a chair and stick for not telling her they ran out of dish detergent, the report said.
Croskey has been in and out of jail and a warrant was issued for her arrest for violating her probation, records showed.
The boy had been last seen in the area of the 11000 block of Southwest 187th Terrace in Miami. Officials said they may have been traveling in a 2008 black Jeep Liberty sport with Florida tag GUUV38.
Officials with the Florida Department of Children and Families said they've opened a child protective investigation into the case.
