A 23-year-old man driving in Miami Gardens was fatally shot on Saturday, according to police.
John Etienne Oscar was driving west on Northwest 151st Street near 30th Avenue when the vehicle was shot. The shooting caused him to crash into a fence.
The victim was declared dead at the scene.
Rashawn Welch, a friend of the victim, described him as a "hard-working young man – trying to do it the right way."
"Hard working, young man, trying to do it the right way.
"We talk to these folks all the time about putting down the guns, and for this to happen so close to home – I'm just lost for words right now," Welch said.
