Man Arrested for Allegedly Drawing Swastikas Across Miami Beach

Officers arrested 45-year-old Sean Kenna and charged him with seven counts of criminal mischief

What to Know

  • The incidents took place earlier this year along the mid-beach and North Beach parts of the city, according to a release from police.

Police have arrested and charged a man they say is responsible for drawing hateful images across Miami Beach.

Officers arrested 45-year-old Sean Kenna and charged him with seven counts of criminal mischief, six of them associated with drawing swastikas in various locations throughout the city as well as allegedly writing hateful messages directed at the Jewish community, Miami Beach Police officials said Wednesday.

An arrest report says that between Feb. 9 and March 19, Kenna spray-painted a swastika on the front gate of a home in Miami Beach, scrawled the word "death" on a blue U.S. Postal Service mailbox and wrote "kill the Jews" and drew a swastika on a sign.

Kenna's arrest report says he is homeless. A lawyer isn't listed on jail records.

Kenna was being held on $135,000 bond after his first hearing before a judge and ordered to stay away from certain areas of Miami Beach.

Officials say the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office will look into the possibility of adding hate crime charges in the case.
